Transferrin is a glycoprotein found in vertebrates that binds to, and consequently mediates, the transport of iron (Fe) through blood plasma. It is produced in the liver and contains binding sites for two Fe3+ ions.
Source
Recombinant BioBov Transferrin and CBD-Transferrin (Transferrin fused to a cellulose binding domain) are produced in N. Tabacum leaves.
Biological Activity
Recombinant BioBov Transferrin and CBD-Transferrin are comparable to a commercially available, highly purified (>95%) counterpart, as determined by a cell-proliferation assay in HeLa immortal cells.
